The Origin

Since the age of two, I have relied on eyeglasses for simple daily tasks. After replacing an old pair, I realized I would never use them again. I started wondering how many more pairs are sitting in drawers collecting dust, both in my house and in homes everywhere.

This realization together with the idea of Tikkun Olam motivated me to start Project Second Sight. By collecting unused pairs of eyeglasses, we give them a second life and deliver them to communities in need, where they transform lives by enabling people to read, work, and thrive.

Tikkun Olam: Repairing the World

In the Jewish tradition, Tikkun Olam represents the profound responsibility to repair and improve the world through our individual and collective actions. At Project Second Sight, this value is the heartbeat of our mission. By gathering unused eyeglasses and delivering them to communities in need, we take a small but significant step toward restoring sight and dignifying lives. It is our way of seeing an opportunity to help and choosing to act.
